What we offer ...· Engaging curriculum developed from teachers’ close attention to children’s interests; · Free and guided play with open-ended toys, soothing sensory materials, and of course, each other! · Developmentally appropriate pre-literacy and math organically woven into children’s projects; · Music, movement, story-telling, drama, process-oriented art and daily outdoor play. |
Our bright and inviting space includes an art area with child-sized sinks, a dramatic play area, a book corner and play kitchen area, a blocks-and-trains room, and more.
At Children of the World, (COTW), our project-based approach focuses on themes of compelling interest to preschoolers. They may explore issues of power and belonging through a focus on knights and castles; control a spaceship exploring the great beyond or a submarine searching the ocean's dark zone; or care for others as doctors or veterinarians. Through our curriculum, we enable children to expand their vocabularies, gain understanding of new concepts and engage in deeply meaningful - and pleasurable - play.
We combine the benefits of family child care - including small group size (10 children every morning and 6 in the afternoons), close relationships with children and families, and a safe, non-institutional setting - with the intellectual stimulation of high-quality preschool.
Our name, Children of the World, reflects the rich diversity of our community. Children in our program and/or their families have come from China, Cambodia, Russia, Japan, India, Bali, The Czech Republic, Switzerland, Colombia, Poland, Ireland, England, South Africa, Germany, Morocco, Australia, Mexico and other countries around the world.
We are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
